RewriteKey Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

What We Collect

RewriteKey only processes text when you explicitly tap a button (Rewrite, Tone, or Help Me Out). We do not monitor, log, or collect any text you type in the background.

How It Works

  • When you tap Rewrite or Tone, the text currently in your input field is sent to our servers for processing.

  • Our servers forward your text to an AI provider to generate alternative versions.

  • The results are returned to your device and displayed in the keyboard.

  • We do not store, log, or retain the text you send for rewriting on our servers.

Data Stored on Your Device

  • Device ID: A random UUID generated on first launch, used for rate limiting. Not linked to your identity.

  • History: Your last 20 rewrites are stored locally on your device only. You can delete them at any time in Settings.

  • Cache: Recent results are cached locally for 24 hours to reduce network calls.

What We Do NOT Do

  • We do not read your text unless you tap a button.

  • We do not store your text on our servers.

  • We do not sell or share your data with third parties.

  • We do not use your text to train AI models.

  • We do not track your location or collect analytics beyond basic crash reporting.

Third-Party Services

We use Moonshot AI (Kimi) to process rewrite requests. Their privacy policy applies to the processing of text sent through our service. We send only the text you explicitly submit — no metadata, contacts, or other personal information.

Full Access (Android / iOS)

Custom keyboards require network access to send your text to our AI service. This is the only reason network access is needed. We do not use this access for any other purpose.

Children’s Privacy

RewriteKey is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
